Net Neutrality Explained… by BURGER KING

January 25, 2018 by Daniel

burger king net neutrality

Some people have a hard time trying to digest issues like net neutrality. Sure, with all the differing opinions and various news outlets reporting on the issue, it’s easy to understand why.

Enter Burger King.

Wait, what?

Yes. Burger King. Please pull forward to the first window.

Sometimes, in order to make a point, you have to illustrate the absurd with the absurd.

Using the infamous Whopper, Burger King explained net neutrality in simple to process terms.

I guess you could say Burger King flame-broiled the net neutrality debate.

Who’s To Blame For The 2018 Government Shutdown?

January 22, 2018 by Daniel

government shutdown 2018

The government, once again, is shutdown over another spending bill. However, depending on who you ask, you will find that it’s either President Trump to blame or the Republicans. Honestly, isn’t it all about how you look at it?

So what… the government is shutdown. Quite frankly, many are excited at that statement. Thinking of it that way would have us thinking that at least they aren’t wasting any more taxpayer money on reckless and frivolous spending.

But this is about something bigger. Much bigger!

Hop in a time machine real quick as we travel back to 2013. Do you remember? Washington was pounding away at a spending bill and nobody could hash things out. So… since they couldn’t pass it, the government ran out of money and it was forced into a shutdown.

At the time, it was all because the Republicans wouldn’t budge and give Obama and the Democrats what they wanted. It was never Obama at fault. It was never the fault of the Democrats. All the blame was put on the Republicans. If you tried to argue against it, you were, of course, on the dark side.

Okay, hop back in and let’s travel back to present day. Once again, Washington was faced with passing another spending bill. Only this time, there was a Republican President. And, and, the Republicans have a majority in the House and Senate.

So… who’s at fault? That’s right! Trump. It’s all his fault and nobody else’s. Sure, we still blame the Republicans, because, after all, they have the majority and they do whatever Trump tells them to do.

Sure, that’s one way to think about it. But, it’s a silly way to think about it.

It’s what’s at play that’s the bigger picture.

Let’s focus our attention on the Democrats! There is a spending bill on the floor that everyone in Washington is okay with. Yes, even the Democrats. They’re fine with it. However, they also want to fund DACA and the illegal activities of illegal immigrants. Republicans, on the other hand, say no.

So, why not pass the bill and then work on passing immigration reform? Plain and simple. The Democrats care about putting illegal immigrants ahead of America. And, they care so much about it that they are willing to shut down the government.

But, and here’s where it gets kind of silly… it’s STILL Trump’s fault. No matter how you want to spin it, and people are doing their best to do so, we’re NOT allowed to blame Democrats for anything.

Justice Clarence Thomas as You’ve Likely Never Seen Him

January 11, 2018 by Daniel

supreme court justice clarence thomas

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas sits down to discuss moments of his life, faith, and family.

In this interview, we get a rather relaxed Justice Thomas as many have likely never seen him before. At one point, he laughs so hard he almost could have fallen out of his chair.

On the topic of faith, he discusses his reason for attending mass daily before work saying it helps him do his “job, a secular job, in the right way and for the right reasons.” Faith, he says, gives him “the strength to do what I have to do every day, to assert the independence, to be willing to take the beatings, the criticism, the unfairness.”

The biggest takeaway for me is just how genuine and humble Justice Thomas is.

Trump Tweets His Nuclear Button is ‘Much Bigger’ than Kim Jong Un’s

January 2, 2018 by Daniel

President Trump took to Twitter to respond to Kim Jong Un’s claim that he has a nuclear button on his desk at all times.

Trump tweeted, “North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 3, 2018

Honestly, I literally laughed out loud. It’s typical Trump fashion but equal parts savage.

My List of Goals for 2018

January 1, 2018 by Daniel

The end of one year always brings excitement and optimism for the next. And, as 2017 came to a close, I couldn’t wait to get 2018 started. Are We Really That Much More Informed?

December 2, 2017 by Daniel

We’re told that we live in the age of information. We literally have all the information of the world at our fingertips. You’re likely even reading this on your little cellular device. However, in today’s day of information, are we really that much more informed?

It’s a question raised when I stumbled upon a post over at The Hill that started out saying: “Just a few decades ago, citizens who wanted to stay on top of the daily news had a narrow range of options. They could read a newspaper, watch an evening network newscast, or maybe just have a conversation with a trusted neighbor or co-worker. Today, the digital world today has created a Wild West of information resources.”

Can we take just a second to marvel at the notion of how far we’ve come? There was a day where the only way you consumed news and information was via newspapers. Then, along came the radio. A magical little box that, at the time, transformed our world as we knew it. Finally, we had a voice to go along with the story. What next, picture? Yes. Talk about a game-changer. When the television came into play, it almost rendered the radio obsolete. No longer was it good enough to only get to hear; we needed to be able to see it for ourselves.

Fast forward a few years to the present where we now hold all of that power in the palm of our hands. With just our cell phones, we can get print, sound, and video. If that’s not enough, we can even produce all three of those options with the same device. And, on top of that, we’ve added the social aspect. We can communicate with anyone in the world at any given moment of any given day.

So, let me ask again, are we really all that more informed?

Take a look at this chart of where people are getting their so-called news:

This chart shows that the two biggest social media sites, Facebook and Twitter, are among the most used sites for getting news. Is it not interesting that people are using social media sites to consume their news?

We used to be able to only get out news from newspapers, radio/TV, and word of mouth. And, it was those traditional sources that decided what was relevant to talk about. Only the media sources had the power to decide what was important and what wasn’t.

So, should it alarm you that roughly two-thirds of adults are getting news from social media and other online sources? Yes and no. Yes, because it holds those traditional media sources accountable. Think about it, because we have the ability to fact-check with a palm-sized device that we all possess, we can determine the validity of the news at that very second. But, there is a flip side to everything. As easy as it is to do that, we also have ease of access to be able to post whatever we want and label it as news. It then has the ability to spread like a wildfire simply because, well, it’s social media and if it’s on there it has to be true.

This chart illustrates just what people are consuming on so-called social sites. And, in fact, a large part of what they are getting is the news. They get the news and share it. And, if enough people do in a short amount of time, it stands a chance of going viral. At that point, traditional means of news media would pick up on it and run it as news.

This begs us to look at our original question: Are we really all that more informed?

Just because we read it or watched it on social media does not always mean it to be true or accurate. And, just because we read ir or watched it on social media doesn’t necessarily mean that we are more informed.

We do live in a time where we have more access to more information at one time than at any other time. However, when you add in the speed at which ‘news’ can be shared and liked, it adds an entirely new dimension to the equation.

20 Years Later We Finally Get M&M’s Christmas Commercial Sequel

November 28, 2017 by Daniel

m&m christmas commercial

If you’re like me, you’ve probably never given much thought as to what happened when the loveable M&M duo came face to face with Santa and they fainted.

If you’ve forgotten, here’s the 1996 M&M Christmas commercial:

Well… M&M felt it right to let you and I know what finally happened. And, it probably didn’t play out quite how you would have imagined.

So, how did they follow up their original 16-second commercial?

By making a minute and a half follow up!

Rather than bore you any longer by explaining what happened, watch M&M’s new Christmas commercial “Faint 2”:

How cool is that? What a great message!

“Did I ruin Christmas Red?” Yellow asks sheepishly.

Red, seeing how the debacle has forced the community to come together says, “Actually buddy, I think you made it even better.”

PODCAST Special Presentation: ANTIFA

November 10, 2017 by Daniel

antifa special presentation

In this special presentation, we talk about the domestic terrorist group known as ANTIFA.

A special thank you to our guest SlickeryTrigger as he is known on Twitter.

AntiFa has been something of a thing before, so their rise to fame right now should not be a surprise. The only difference between then and now is that they have the funding they need. In large part, their funding comes by way of George Soros. Now, it’s no secret that he’s been funding other domestic terrorist organizations in the US. Other groups like CAIR and La Raza and a host of others receive their funding from him as well.

So… what makes Antifa of today different? What can we do? What does it all mean to you? These questions and much more are discussed in this special broadcast.

California NAACP Urges Removal of ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ as National Anthem

November 9, 2017 by Daniel

The California chapter of the NAACP is seeking to remove ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ as the national anthem when state legislation returns at the start of the year.

According to the group, it is “one of the most racist, pro-slavery, anti-black songs in the American lexicon.”

California NAACP President Alice Huffman told The Sacramento Bee, should find a replacement that is not “another song that disenfranchises part of the American population.”

“Our flag and national anthem unite us as Americans,” Assemblyman Travis Allen, a Huntington Beach Republican who is running for governor, said in a statement. “Protesting our flag and national anthem sows division and disrespects the diverse Americans who have proudly fought and died for our country. Real social change can only happen if we work together as Americans first.”
