Part 1 :
“We the people” are the familiar opening words of the Constitution of the United States– the framework for a self-governing people, free from the arbitrary edicts of rulers. It was the blueprint for America, and the success of America made that blueprint something that other nations sought to follow.
At the time when it was written, however, the Constitution was a radical departure from the autocratic governments of the 18th century. Since it was something so new and different, the reasons for the Constitution’s provisions were spelled out in “The Federalist,” a book written by three of the writers of the Constitution, as a sort of instruction guide to a new product.
The Constitution was not only a challenge to the despotic governments of its time, it has been a continuing challenge– to this day– to all those who think that ordinary people should be ruled by their betters, whether an elite of blood, or of books or of whatever else gives people a puffed-up sense of importance.
“We the people” are the central concern of the Constitution, as well as its opening words, since it is a Constitution for a self-governing nation. But “we the people” are treated as an obstacle to circumvent by the current administration in Washington.
One way of circumventing the people is to rush legislation through Congress so fast that no one knows what is buried in it. Did you know that the so-called health care reform bill contained a provision creating a tax on people who buy and sell gold coins?
You might debate whether that tax is a good or a bad idea. But the whole point of burying it in legislation about medical insurance is to make sure “we the people” don’t even know about it, much less have a chance to debate it, before it becomes law.

There’s a whole lot of pretending going on in our world today. We have a federal judge ruling that the 5,000-year-old institution of marriage was “biased” and immoral from the start because of the way it discriminated unfairly against homosexuals.
We have a Justice Department that dismissed an open-and-shut case of vigilante-style voter intimidation because the perpetrators were black and the victims were white. And we have a man in the White House who extols Islam for “advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.” That’s what I call pretending.
In blessing the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, Barack Obama added that Islam “is a faith known for great diversity and racial equality” and that it “has always been part of America.”
I have more than a passing knowledge of Islam that includes firsthand experience and a significant amount of study over the last 30 years. But somehow I must have missed the advancements of justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings. Honestly, I can think of none.
Did I overlook a reformation in the religion that has resulted in one genocide after another for the last 1,300 years? Racial equality? Has the Quran been rewritten to excise Muhammad’s characterizations of blacks as “ugly,” “raisin heads” and “pug-nosed slaves”?

There are a lot of things being said about the Ground Zero Mosque. Should it stay, or should it go? Answering that question all depends on who you ask.
You see, there are many that say it should absolutely go. And their reason is based on an emotional one. With many people agreeing, yes, it is symbolically a slap in the face. But mainly because of who is leading the movement.
If it was a moderate, yet compassionate Muslim leading the effort, people would probably be okay with the idea of having this mosque only two blocks from ground zero. But, with this Imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf, there are far too many questions surrounding him and his cause.
As parents always tell their children, “It’s not what’s on the outside, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.” And how true that is. It’s what is going to go on inside that will count. Which is one of the many questions that have people debating this mosque.
There are three main things that are on the minds of people:

“I am not among those who fear the people. They, and not the rich, are our dependence for continued freedom. And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude.” – Thomas Jefferson

The day has finally come that the Iranian Bushehr nuclear reactor will go online, all with the aid from Russia and the fuel they will supply.
The long awaited time for Iran has been seemingly delayed for years as the plant had become a source of political tug-o-war. Russian led and financed, the project is now completed with a set start date for Aug. 21.
Plant construction began in 1974 with help from Germany, but was put on hold due the the Islamic revolution in 1979. After years passed, construction picked back up in 1995 with co-operation from Russia which, in 1998 led them to sign up to complete the facility.
With many delays, following a scheduled completion of 2007, time has come that Russia will load the reactor with fuel that will make it operational.
“This will be an irreversible step,” Sergei Novikov, a spokesman for Russia’s state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, said. “At that moment, the Bushehr nuclear power plant will be certified as a nuclear energy installation.”
“I think it is a very strong signal that international society supports such peaceful projects as Bushehr, because everybody understands that you cannot use a power plant in a hypothetical military program,” Novikov told RT. “A nuclear power plant just generates electricity. There are two double-purpose elements – enrichment and spent fuel management. Both of these elements are taken out of Iranian responsibility, because we are going to supply the Bushehr power plant with nuclear fuel.”

“I favor the policy of economy, not because I wish to save money, but because I wish to save people. The men and women of this country who toil are the ones who bear the cost of the Government. Every dollar that we carelessly waste means that their life will be so much the more meager. Every dollar that we save means that their life will be so much the more abundant. Economy is idealism in its most practical form.” – Calvin Coolidge

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment have increased to a six-month high. Initial claims being reported are at 484,000. Not good for an already ailing economy.
However, the administration continues to push out bailout after bailout that will ‘bring them back from the brink’ as the President likes to say. And another way the Feds are keeping from the brink is that they will be buying their own debts.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and other state lawmakers have proposed an immigration bill modeled after Arizona’s bill, but one they say should withstand court challenges.
“This legislation will provide new enforcement tools for protecting our citizens and will help our state fight the ongoing problems created by illegal immigration,” McCollum said in a statement. “Florida will not be a sanctuary state for illegal aliens.”
“Arizona is going to want this law,” said McCollum. “We’re better, we’re stronger, we’re tougher and we’re fairer.”
The proposed Florida bill has been ‘strengthened‘ and goes beyond Arizona’s immigration bill by letting judges consider a defendant’s illegal immigrant status during bond proceedings.
In ‘lawful stops,’ Florida would require law enforcement officers to check the residency status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. It also would make it a crime for employers who hire illegal immigrants, and it would make Florida businesses to use a federal E-verify system against hiring illegals.
