SITREP: Islamic State [PODCAST]

February 20, 2015 by Daniel

[powerpress]

In this episode, I discuss the Islamic State and what to do about them.

SITREP- Islamic State

On religious intolerance, Voltaire said:

“Human law must in every case be based on natural law. All over the earth the great principle of both is: Do not unto others what you would that they do not unto you. Now, in virtue of this principle, one man cannot say to another: “Believe what I believe, and what thou canst not believe, or thou shalt perish.” Thus do men speak in Portugal, Spain, and Goa. In some other countries they are now content to say: “Believe, or I detest thee; believe, or I will do thee all the harm I can. Monster, thou sharest not my religion, and therefore hast no religion; thou shalt be a thing of horror to thy neighbours, thy city, and thy province.” … The supposed right of intolerance is absurd and barbaric.”

So, they cut off heads and they burn people alive. Heck, they’ll even throw you off the top of a building. They’re here, then there, almost everywhere. They are growing in numbers and they move quick. Obviously I’m talking about the Islamic State. But, right now there’s a lot of stuff being said about them. One person even said they are angry because they don’t have jobs? And I thought it was because they had a small Medulla Oblongata. Maybe I’m a little off here, but shouldn’t we be doing something about this?

You may not agree with my assessment, but this is a very complicated situation we find ourselves in, and there really is only one way I think to end it.

Stand Your Ground [PODCAST]

February 13, 2015 by Daniel

[powerpress]

In this episode, I discuss why we need to stand our ground.

Stand-your-ground

Meat & Potatoes

The need to stand your ground has never been as much an issue as it is today. Like you, I see and feel the attacks against us everyday. Sad thing is, almost every single one of them comes from our government. So, we need to be like Captain John Parker who said, “Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon. But if they want to have a war let it begin here.”

Why do we need to stand our ground? Because those we elect work for us, not themselves. Cicero warned about this very thing.

Look, with things like net neutrality, regulations against online political speech, and the idea of a global government, we need to stand our ground. We cannot just sit idle and watch everything be taken from us.

Lost & Found

How cool would it be if you were asked to go look for something, and you just happen to be searching through an old scrapbook and find a copy of the Magna Carta?

Who Said That?

He didn’t really say that did he? What about his little spox idiot? How does he get up there each day and defend such ignorant remarks? Some people… are just too stupid to insult.

Are We There Yet? [PODCAST]

February 6, 2015 by Daniel

[powerpress]

In this episode, I discuss how we all have defining moments and if we are there yet.

Are we there yet

Meat & Potatoes

Do you remember when you were a kid on a road trip with mom and dad and you would utter that phrase: ‘Are we there yet?’ Or do you have kids right now that ask you? Either way, you understood pretty clear their response. At times, it almost felt like it was a defining moment. For you as a child, if you asked just one more time, it was over. For you as a parent, you wrestle internally with how much restraint you should display. Or… You go all in! You make your point, and if those boundaries are crossed, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

Politically speaking, the same principle should be applied. And, for the most part, it does. But with the reckless president we’re stuck with right now, do we really know what’s going on? We’ve seen time after time how the red line that was drawn, was done so with chalk in the sand. Give it a second, and it’s gone! And maybe, just maybe this will be a defining moment for the world.

Abraham Lincoln’s Lyceum address [excerpt] January 27, 1838 –

“At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it?– Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!–All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.

“At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.

“I hope I am over wary; but if I am not, there is, even now, something of ill-omen, amongst us. I mean the increasing disregard for law which pervades the country; the growing disposition to substitute the wild and furious passions, in lieu of the sober judgment of Courts; and the worse than savage mobs, for the executive ministers of justice. This disposition is awfully fearful in any community; and that it now exists in ours, though grating to our feelings to admit, it would be a violation of truth, and an insult to our intelligence, to deny.”

Obama’s strategy with Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) has been a ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ approach. As much as it pains me to say this, the one thing Obama has gotten right is “that the overwhelming majority of Muslims reject this ideology.”

Lost & Found

Harper Lee, author of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ wrote another manuscript that has long been forgot about until recently. ‘Go Set a Watchman‘ was written before the iconic novel, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird.’ The publisher at the time was so taken by Scout’s flashback, that they asked her to write more about her childhood. And the rest as we know is history. ‘Go Set a Watchman’ is set to be released this year in July.

Who Said That?

During the Prayer Breakfast, Obama tried to compare the Crusades to what we are witnessing with Daesh. Maybe he took Common Core History 101, or he learned about it by watching Bryan Williams. It really was something stupid!

Winning Hearts and Changing Minds [PODCAST]

January 30, 2015 by Daniel

[powerpress]

In this episode, I discuss what I think should be the foundation of the 2016 election cycle for a republican victory.

The Meat and Potatoes

Ronald Reagan said: “This country was founded and built by people with great dreams and the courage to take great risks.”

People throughout time have risked their lives for the great cause of America. And it’s about time we start protecting what makes America great. And it starts with winning hearts and changing minds.

Ted Cruz had some great ideas that he discussed at the Iowa Freedom Summit. He talked about the need to reignite the miracle of America.

What can $1 Billion buy you? If you ask the Koch brothers they might just say the 2016 election. What are your thoughts?

Have you heard the latest about the Bowe Bergdahl GITMO-5 prisoner swap? What if I told you that one of the guys we gave back is being monitored for militant activity? And, do you think Bergdahl will be charged with desertion?

Good news! Obamacare won’t cost as much as initially predicted. But, that’s because we’re going to enroll more people in Medicare or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Don’t forget all of the increased charges and penalties. That certainly will help!

Lost and Found

Some 70 years ago when a guy landed on Utah Beach, he lost his dog tags. Now, through the miracle of social media, that set of dog tags was returned to the family. What an awesome story!

Who Said That?

Every now and then someone says something so stupid, they leave you scratching your head. This week was no different when John Boehner said in an interview that he was the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party. Wait… What?!

Robin Hood Economics [PODCAST]

January 23, 2015 by Daniel

[powerpress]

In this episode, I discuss the ignorance of the Robin Hood Economics that was introduced during the State of the Union.

robin-hood-economics

Meat and Potatoes

Ronald Reagan said:

“The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much.”

Just as we predicted, Obama wants to give you everything for free. Including:

  • free health care
  • free pay raise
  • preschool
  • 2 years of community college
  • sick days at work
  • tax cuts

Honestly, there’s really only one little thing wrong with his idea of ‘Middle Class Economics.’ Free isn’t really free when someone else has to pay for it. Then again, what the heck is middle class economics? It’s just another made up term for taking from the rich and giving to the poor. You know, Robin Hood Economics.

Lost and Found

Have you ever lost a roll of film? Probably not. But, with the help of Rescued Film Project, 31 rolls of WWII film were recovered.

Who Said That?

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Republicans in Washington tried to put a stop to abortions after 20 weeks. One MSNBC host had something to say about the ‘minuscule’ amount of abortions that this bill would cover. Only problem? He should have just kept his mouth shut!

Prepping for the State of the Union [PODCAST]

January 16, 2015 by Daniel

[powerpress]

In this episode, I discuss what Obama might bring up during his State of the Union.

James Mill (1825) –
“We have seen already, that if one man has power over others placed in his hands, he will make use of it for an evil purpose; for the purpose of rendering those other men the abject instruments of his will. If we, then, suppose, that one man has the power of choosing the Representatives of the people, it follows, that he will choose men, who will use their power as Representatives for the promotion of this his sinister interest.

“We have likewise seen, that when a few men have power given them over others, they will make use of it exactly for the same ends, and to the same extent, as the one man. It equally follows, that, if a small number of men have the choice of the Representatives, such Representatives will be chosen as will promote the interests of that small number, by reducing, if possible, the rest of the community to be the abject and helpless slaves of their will.”

It really is sad how fitting that quote really is. We are destined to repeat history is we don’t know it. So, what are the predictions for what Obama will talk about during the State of the Union?

  • The economy is roaring back. After all, gas prices are down so we need to take advantage of it and raise the gas taxes. Wait, what?
  • We need to pass the Keystone Pipeline. The only ones in Washington that don’t want this passed are the democrats. But, Obama is likely to try and praise the passing of the Keystone Pipeline as his because it could help his ratings.
  • Free internet for all! There’s been a little talk about how we need to make broadband access more available, and what better time to give something away and have the government subsidize it than when your numbers are in the grave?
  • Education reform is likely to receive the bulk of his address. The democrats, and some republicans have come up with the crazy idea of ‘cradle to career.’ They want to fundamentally transform the education system to include preschool and stretch it into 2 free years of community college. After all, according to Obamacare you’re still considered a child until the age of 26.
  • Obama is becoming a little butthurt over the idea that a majority of people are not in favor of amnesty, so it is likely that he will try and polish the turd a little more and put a clean bow on it again. After all, we can’t just deny these illegal crimmigrants can we?

Lost and Found?

Lost at some point was a rifle. It was left leaning up against a tree in a national park in Nevada some years ago. Little is known about who left it there, or even why. But this rifle is being dated back to around 1882. This model of rifle, Remington model 1873 was largely called ‘the gun that won the West.’

Who Said That?

Can you imagine a government that wants to legislate the amount of sick days you get? And then try and spin it saying it would be good for the economy? Neither can I.

Back to the Basics [PODCAST]

January 9, 2015 by Daniel

Back to the Basics

[powerpress]

In this show, I discuss just a few of the basics that many people in and out of Washington may have forgotten.

Back to the Basics

One of the most respected college basketball coaches would start every season out by teaching the basics. The fundamentals of the game. I think that after we re-elected John Boehner as Speaker of the House again, after sending a clear message to Washington after the mid-term elections that we were tired of the same old games, we need to look back to the basics.

So where do we start? How about who’s in charge!

There are really only 4 branches of the government, 5 depending on who you ask.

  1. Judicial – the Supreme Court
  2. Executive – the President, VP and their cabinet members
  3. Legislative – Congress = Senate and House of Representatives
  4. Most people will say that the Media is a branch – so I’ll even go with it due to the amount of work they try to do to sway things in Washington
  5. The most forgotten yet most powerful branch – We the People

Did they forget who they work for and who they represent?

“In the American Constitution the general authority will be derived entirely from the subordinate authorities. The Senate will represent the States in their political capacity, the other House will represent the people of the States in their individual capacity. The former will be accountable to their constituents at moderate, the latter at short periods.” – James Madison letter to Thomas Jefferson in 1787

MRC Research conducted a poll of likely republican voters and 75% of them did NOT want Boehner as the Speaker. Yet, at least that many or more in the House voted him back? Now are you starting to see why we may need to take a look back at the basics?

Speaking of basics, did you hear about the time capsule that was found by accident? This was buried by Sam Adams and Paul Revere and William Scollay back in 1795. These were among the original Sons of Liberty during the American Revolution. Pretty cool that they took the time to hide up little gems like this in order to preserve some of their time!

Who Said That? Well . . . One guy doesn’t want to say the terror attack carried out my Muslim terrorists at Charlie Hebdo was carried out by Muslim terrorists? And another person, who has hopes of becoming President in 2016, says that we should empathize with our enemy? Uh, yeah. Some are literally too stupid to insult!

Here are a few of the links covered:

  • When ObamaCare came to Harvard
  • A message from ‘His Excellency’ Sam Adams and ‘The Most Worshipful’ Paul Revere to the 21st Century: Time capsule buried by the real ‘Sons of Liberty’ opened after 220 years

PODCAST: Obama Underestimated ISIS

October 2, 2014 by Daniel

Now that Eric Holder has announced his resignation, we can focus on bigger things right? Well . . . Not so fast. He’s agreed to stay until they find a replacement.

On to bigger things? You mean like how Obama is blaming the intelligence community on ‘underestimating’ the Islamic State? If only he had actually attended those briefings he blew off to play golf, he would have known.

PODCAST: Taking Out #Daesh

September 23, 2014 by Daniel

Daesh

When talking about what you are going to do to your enemy, the last thing you do is tell them what you will and won’t do. Obama has taken ground troops off the table, even though plenty of advisers have said you can’t take out the Islamic State without using ground troops.

I also shared with you how you can really upset the not-so Islamic State. Instead of referring to them as ISIS or ISIL or the Islamic State, call them Daesh. It translates into the same thing as ISIL, it’s just that they see it as derogatory.

Also, have you ever heard of a militant group called Khorasan? You need to keep them on your radar!
