Troops: Support and Concern

February 12, 2008 by Daniel

Tonight, I wish to address you on the topic of our Troops. I am slightly two sided on this issue, being that I have worn the uniform to support my right to speak what I may. I may come across as skipping around a little in my support and concern, but I hope that I can get my point made.

I have a deep love for the Troops and what they do. I support the missions that they endure, and the hard work they put in to protect out freedom. Which they do at any cost. Do I support the war in Iraq and Afganistan? I am not sure. I am elated that Saddam is, and no longer will be, in power. I am glad to think that one day, Iraq will have a government led and chosen by the people and for the people.

My concern is that it won’t end anytime soon. Take a look at some of the other tours of duty that our military has to endure. Korea, Kosovo, Panama, Germany, Japan, Africa. That is just to name a few, but do you see where I am going with this? We started small campains in those countries, and look at where it has gotten us. How many years have we stayed in the likes of Korea and Germany? At least fifty years. Who is to say that we won’t be in Iraq and Afganistan for thirty, forty, even fifty years? No one can say. We can all sit back and say that this or that worked, but the real issue is the Troops and the impact on them. And also a less direct impact on national security. With so many Troops deployed all over the world, the few that are still here at home are too tired and spread too thin to cover our failing borders.

So I ask you another question. How much longer do we need to stay in Iraq and Afganistan? NO ONE knows! I am tired of hearing those on the left say that they want a Troop withdrawl. I want a Troop withdrawl also, given the right time. I am tired of hearing about timetables and dates when this of that will happen. The true art of war is not letting the enemy know what you are going to do! Tell the enemy when we will shot, and they will wait to kill us the next day. Does that make sense to you? Not me. The last time we made war public, this country was striken with scandal and embarassment. What war was that you say? Vietnam. The war these brave men and women fight today is an even more modern version of Vietnam. Take the control away from the government and let the generals command this operation. Take control from the media and give them something possitive to talk about. I am getting off topic a little, but I hope that you understand what my perspective is coming from.

I ask that you support the Troops, and offer your concern. Stop letting the broken government and ignorant media run this war, and put it back in the general’s control. Take the time to understand that we may be in Iraq and Afganistan for an undetermined amount of time.

Support the Troops! They support you!

Thank you, and God bless.

The Aftermath and The Future

February 7, 2008 by Daniel

I first want to start by congratulating Mitt Romney for all of his accomplishments that were made thus far in his Presidential endeavor. He gained a lot of support from a great number of people. However, the people just didn’t make a stand early enough.

Last night, I took it upon myself to start a voice. The voice of the true working people who want the change that all the presidential hopefulls talk at you about. This voice should not stand idle and wait for the next opportunity to speak up. It will be too late to voice it in the future. The mission of this voice I speak of is one of unity, and of hope for a better tomorrow.

With that being said, I want to present a few quotes that I bring to you via Mitt Romney’s withdrawl from the race. I was not fortunate enough to watch it on television, so I looked to the next viable source of information. The miracle of the internet. I will be quoting directly from a transcript of his speech that I obtained from RealClearPolitics in which was titled “Romney’s Withdrawl Speech”. I am glad that he sat down and did the math to weigh out his odds, and came up with the right answer. He has sparked the interest for what I will call a “can’t fail” attitude for the 2012 election. He has poised himself to be the future candidate to clean up the corruption we face for the next four years. I also would like to bring to note that many of the things quoted from his speech, are things I outlined last evening.

‘I am convinced that unless America changes course, we will become the France of the 21st century– still a great nation, but no longer the leader of the world, no longer the superpowerl And to me, that is unthinkable. Simon Peres, in a visit to Boston, was asked what he thought about the war in Iraq. “First,” he said, “I must put something in context. America is unique in the history of the world. In the history of the world, whenever there has been conflict, the nation that wins takes land from the nation that loses. One nation in history, and this during the last century, laid down hundreds of thousands of lives and took no land, No land from Germany, no land from Japan, no land from Korea. America is unique in the sacrifice it has made for liberty, for itself and for the freedom loving people around the world.” The best ally peace has ever known, and will ever know, is a strong America!’

It amazes me to no avail, that the freedom loving America just wants to share what it is like to live with freedom. It also amazes me how many people are willing to lay their lives down to do that, and also how many people are willing to lay theirs down in opposition. There are far more of them than there is of us!

‘The threat to our culture comes from within. The 1960’s welfare programs created a culture of poverty. Some think we won that battle when we reformed welfare, but the liberals haven’t given up. At every turn, the try to substitue government largesse for individual resposibility. They fight to strip work requirements from welfare, to put more people on Medicaid, and to remove more and more people from having to pay any income tax watsoever. Dependancy is death to initiative, risk-taking and opportunity. Dependancy is a culture-killing drug–we have got to fight it like the poison it is!’

‘And tolerance for. . .the twisted incentives of government welfare programs have led to today’s grim realities. . .’

‘And our economy is also burdened by the inexorable ramping of government spending. Don’t focus on the pork alone–even though it is indeed irritating and shameful. Look at the entitlements.

That’s exactly what happens with high taxes, over-regulation, tort windfalls, mndates, and overfed, over-spending government. Did you see that today, goverment workers make more money that people who work in the private sector. Can you imagine what happens to an economy where the best opportunities are for bureaucrats?’

How true is that! It is a fact that the government feels the need to step in and create programs that waste hard earned tax payer money. I will only list a few off the top of my head. Included is welfare, amnesty for illegals, Medicaid, teenage pregnancy, and with today’s ever popular housing crisis. I call it a crisis, for that is what it is. It is not the governments responsibility to “save” those who were ignorant to how their mortgage contract would work. It is the consumers responsibility to take care of themselves and not rely on politicians to bail them out. I brought up teenage pregnancy programs because they simply don’t work! Statistics prove that teenage pregnancy rates are on an alarming incline. What other program is helped by that increase? Welfare! These lazy bums are collecting a free handout that can be used for things I talked about last night. Another topic that I won’t talk too much on tonight is what our fighting service men and women make for a salary. It truely disgusts me when those that are fighting for this wonderful nation have to go on welfare. How obsurd is that! ? !

‘Our prosperity and security also depend on finally acting to become energy secure. Oil producing states like Russia and Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Iran are siphoning over $400 billion per year from our economy–that’s almost what we spend annually for defense. It is past time for us to invest in energy technology, nuclear power, clean coal, liquid coal, renewable sources and energy efficiency. America must never be held hostage by the likes of Putin, Chavez, and Ahmendinejad.’

I touched on this issue a little last night as well. Take the time to go back to last night’s post and come to the same realization I did when I read this speech. I am just one person in the nation, allbeit with a voice, that gets it. I touched on almost all the same things Mitt Romney did when I posted last night. I want to end with one last quote, and then some final remarks.

‘Even though we face an uphill fight, . . .Fight on, just like Ronald Reagan did in 1976. But there is an important difference from 1976: today… we are a nation at war.’

That is true, we are a nation at war and Ronald Reagan was a great and admirable man that promised a lot of change. However, he delivered. What we have to look forward to in those still in the race is non-delivery! Last but not least, this isn’t 1976. Things, as well as time, change.

The future of this great country can begin to look better, but only if we the VOICE, speak up. Speech isn’t the save all either. Action must be taken. It starts with YOU. Speak up and be a VOICE.

Thanks for your time, and may God richly bless you.

I am Dan, and I approve this message.

I am ready for a change!

February 6, 2008 by Daniel

I logged on tonight with full intentions of going absolutely insane over the events last night for Super Dumper Tuesday. What can I really say without having a microphone? I was honestly sickened over the negative BS that was plastered all over the airwaves! McCain – Is that all we have for a hope? I am afraid it is. I wish the media would portray this race the right way, and fully expose McCain’t for the piece he is. For quite some time now, this has been a two man race. With Mitt Romney in a very close battle against Mike Huckaby, McCamnesty is outright stealling votes from these two hopefulls. Why did I say that? Take a look at McCains history and where he stands on the issues. Am I the only one to see that John McCain is in fact a Democrat? Where is the true Right Wing support on this issue? The media has gotten one thing right, and that is that this election will go down in history. That said on a few different levels. Either:

1. We have a female win. (I can’t refer to her as a lady or woman.)
2. We have a black win. (I wish it were Colin Powell that would have been the first.)
3. We have a Democrat running in disguise as a Republican win.

Is this a class swapping sides, if you will, like we did at the time of the Kennedy era? What do we as American voices need to do to battle this. Is our only hope for change Barak Obama, since that seems to be the theme for this election? If America want true change, then we need to stop electing the same ignorance into political office again and again! I don’t know about everyone else out there, but I want my voice to be heard. Most of all, I actually want to make those changes a reality. Think about where the Clinton legacy has gotten us: NO WHERE! Think about how loooong McCain has been in political office and where it has gotten us: NO WHERE! I’ll tell you what they did get us. The Clinton legacy got us nothing but a scandelous embarassment throughout the world. John McCain got us, and will get us if he wins in November, another ump-teen MILLION illegal imigrants that have/will get “amnestisized”. I am tired of seeing hard earned tax money go to funding these antics. No more money for the support of illegals. No more money for those sitting on their rears collecting welfare. No more money for all the wastefull spending government programs. More money to securing our borders and the removal of ALL the illegals. More money for a proper eduacation system. More money for alternative energy studies and becoming self-reliant on oil use and consumption. A more stable and continually increasing economy that is not over-shadowed by foreign countries. What DOES this country need? It NEEDS change. It NEEDS someone that CAN change it. What does this country NOT need? It does NOT need the same people that it has had to continue to further corrupt and embarass this country even further. Let’s voice together and unite for the CHANGE that AMERICA really needs!

I am Dan, and I approve THIS message!

Realizing the Majesty

February 4, 2008 by Daniel

In my reading before conducting family home evening, I started Canto I of The Purgatorio. In the simplest form, it would be book 2 of 3 comprising The Divine Comedy by Dante. I thought to myself that this would be one of those books that I would read now, but not fully appreciate it until my later years after reading it again. I felt consumed by the torture and torment that Dante witnessed in his “Hell”. I found myself in a vivid picture with him at my side traveling to the depths together. I at times feared the future events which he would come face to face with Satan at the end of The Inferno. (Book 1 of 3) Now that we (because I still see myself on this journey along his side) are at the base of his purgatory, he so eloquently relays the beautiful portayal of the “bright side of things” in comparison to that which he witnessed in his Hell.

The heavens seemed to revel in their light.
O widowed Northern Hemisphere, bereft
forever of the glory of that sight!
