Mike Pence gets mocked for a commitment he made with his wife?

March 31, 2017 by Daniel

File this however you want, but in my book, this is one of the dumbest things liberal keyboard warriors have done.

I would have never guessed we’d ever attack or mock someone for honoring a commitment someone made with their spouse.

Seriously, I’m wondering what kind of person really, honestly thinks this is okay. You’ve got to be kidding me?!

So here’s what happened. A story posted over at the Washington Post – yeah, I know – covered in depth how Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, is always by his side. They travel together. They dine together. They rode bikes together all over the state as he campaigned. They even highlighted the fact that she’s his ‘prayer warrior’.

All of this sounds great, right?

Well… here’s where this entire thing takes a change of course.

In 2002, Mike Pence told the Hill that he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife and that he won’t attend events featuring alcohol without her by his side, either.

Now, everyone – at least all the liberals on social media – decided this is exactly the thing to attack him on.

Shaming him by saying things like:

Mike Pence won't eat a meal beside a woman who's not his wife but gladly accepted the VP position from a self-admitted puss grabber. Ok, ok

or:

Luckily there is no woman on earth other than his wife who wants to have dinner or drinks anywhere near Mike Pence. So that works out well. https://t.co/zY0s1SOIIW

If this is something worth getting all bent out of shape over, then I think I’m going about life the wrong way.

My wife and I have made a similar commitment to each other. I don’t travel without her by my side. I won’t eat alone with another woman. I won’t ride in a car alone with another woman. My wife is always by my side. Not because I command her to. I want her to be there.

There is nothing more comforting to me than knowing my wife has my back and I’ve got hers. I know that in any given situation, I will not do something stupid to dishonor myself or my wife.

I have even more respect for men, and women, like Pence, who’ve made commitments to one another like this.

You need to seriously look in the mirror at the real problem if you think this is worth getting bent out of shape over. There are far more important things to worry about than focus our efforts on who someone will and will not eat alone with.
