A War on Poverty?

January 9, 2014 by Daniel

Fifty years ago, President Johnson declared a war on poverty.

We’ve been fighting that war ever since. And? Have we won? We’re no closer today than we were then.

Look, we’ve spent trillions to get people out of poverty. In 2012 the government spent almost $1 Trillion. In 2013, they spent more!

What kind of mentality is it that makes people think someone can spend their way out? That doesn’t even make sense.

It’s all a trap!

Why else would someone need over 2 years of unemployment insurance? Why else would Obama get up and talk about how we are going to have ‘promise zones’ in order to focus on those hardest hit areas?

It’s all a trap! A war on poverty? That’s a joke. It’s a war to keep you in poverty!
