Government Shutdown or Letdown?

October 1, 2013 by Daniel

Last night in Washington, our elected officials decided on a government shutdown.

The US Capitol dome is seen at sunrise over Washington, DC, September 25, 2013. The US Senate faces a Sunday showdown over whether to keep government running, but bickering over US President Barack Obama's signature health care law is bringing federal agencies dangerously close to a shutdown. While this can be a good thing, for many it’s a huge letdown. Because they could not come to an agreement, 800,000 non-essential government employees are on furlough. They are at home, without any idea on when they can go back to work and bring home a check.

But for the rest, it will be as normal operation.

The Military will still report for duty and get paid.

And . . . the post office will still deliver mail.

But if you were planning on going to a national park, you might want to reconsider. They are closed.

Also, don’t worry because the people responsible for allowing this to happen; yep, they’ll still get paid. And more than likely, Obama will still go play another round or two of golf.

So while the government is shut down, officials are playing off this letdown as some sort of game.

It’s a he said, she said mess. Democrats want to blame it on Republicans because they are evil and don’t want you to have access to affordable health care. The ‘evil’ Republicans blame the democRats because they won’t budge on funding for Obamacare. (That’s a whole different talking point by itself.)

So you may be asking how we got to this point in the first place. One word: BUDGET!

Washington has yet to provide a budget in 5 years! Imagine if you operated your home and finances the same way they did.
