Supreme Court to Hear Affirmative Action Case

October 10, 2012 by Daniel

The US Supreme Court will be taking up a case on affirmative action challenge to a program by the University of Texas in which they consider race for admissions.

They say that the program is necessary to ‘provide the kind of diverse educational experience’ which the court has previously endorsed. Those who oppose the program say the university is practicing discrimination.

There is a bit of hope to the outcome on this. Justice Elena Kagan will not be taking part because she worked on the case at the Justice Department.
