Speak English to Run for Office? – Open Forum

January 31, 2012 by Daniel

A woman looking to run for office in Arizona was denied because she lacked the ability to speak English proficiantly. She has since appealed the judges ruling stating that the AZ state law doesn’t define what ‘proficiency’ means.

Certainly this is a highly debated topic. Many people feel this is an open and shut case. Why? Look at it this way: The Constitution is written in what language? The Declaration of Independence? What about every other law written in America? They are all written in ENGLISH!

The floor is now yours. Plead your case either way.
