Romney and His Taxes

January 24, 2012 by Daniel

Tuesday, Mitt Romney is expected to release his tax records for 2010 and estimates for 2011.

On the offensive during Monday’s Florida debate, Romney said “I pay all the taxes that are legally required, not a dollar more. I’m proud of the fact that I pay a lot of taxes.”

The interesting thing about the release of his taxes is that the very party he his running in is trying to paint him as an elitist. Leaving the question: Why?

Of all the money he has made, Romney states very boldly that he made it himself. He wasn’t handed any of it. He didn’t make it while in Washington. And, he didn’t make any of it lobbying. He is a self-made millionaire.

So, what are we to learn from the release of Romney’s tax records? He made a lot of money? He paid $3 million? He donated almost as much as he paid?

Why does this matter? Becoming president for Romney would be a pay cut.
