Obamacare Calls in Sick Day 1

October 1, 2013 by Daniel

The launch of the Obamacare insurance exchanges was today and it was already showing problems.

obamacare website crash
via Rep. Tim Huelskamp

Pretty much from the start of the day, and for the majority of the day, the official website was nothing more than an error message.

Overloaded with traffic, this should be seen as a sign for things to come.

They knew well enough the amount of traffic to expect, yet they couldn’t handle it and it overloaded the servers. This is ridiculous! The government operates some of the world’s largest server centers and their silly little website crashes? Give me a break.

This is a sign people. If they can’t manage a website, who in their right mind thinks they can run health care?

Obamacare was designed to fail! It was designed to so that it would collapse insurance companies and force everyone into a single-payer system.

This is only day 1 and Obamacare calls in sick!

Obamacare Sticker Shock: GOP Weekly Address

September 7, 2013 by Daniel

Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) talks about how everyone seems to be going through ‘sticker shock’ when it comes to Obamacare.

It’s not real sticker shock when the majority of the people being impacted knew going into this that they would be hurt. While Obama was busy out selling it, the middle class and business owners were busy trying to crunch numbers.

That’s the reality of Obamacare. It is becoming a fast reality as to how bad it will cripple just about everything. Jobs and hours are being cut by employers. Insurance premiums are on the rise. And, just about everything is going up in price to help absorb the costs of Obamacare.

It’s no good, and everyone in Washington knows this. That’s why they are exempt! If it’s not good enough for them, then why is it it god enough for us?

Cost of Obamacare Hurts: GOP Weekly Address by Gov. Mike Pence

August 24, 2013 by Daniel

This week, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence addresses the impending costs of Obamacare and how much it hurts jobs and the economy.

He also discusses what state Governors are doing to help. He talks about when Washington is spending more money, states are cutting costs. As Washington tries to grow, states are working more toward a small and limited government.

It can be best summed up when Pence says, “By letting freedom and personal responsibly work together, you reduce the need for government.”

Obamacare’s Impact on Today’s and Tomorrow’s Taxpayers: A Heritage Report

August 22, 2013 by Daniel

At a time when the nation has nearly $17 trillion in national debt and is running annual trillion-dollar budget deficits, largely attributed to existing entitlements, Obamacare creates two new entitlements projected to cost nearly $1.8 trillion over the next decade.

While Obamacare is technically scored by the Congressional Budget Office CBO as a deficit reducer, when rational assumptions are made and budget gimmicks are omitted, the law is far from paid for, likely increasing future budget deficits and further burdening current taxpayers and future generations.

New Spending

The two main coverage components of Obamacare are a massive Medicaid expansion and new government subsidies to purchase coverage in the government-run state exchanges. The new spending on these provisions will cost taxpayers nearly $1.8 trillion from 2014 to 2023.

New Taxes and Penalties

Obamacare’s new spending is offset in part by the imposition of 18 new taxes and penalties. The CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation project that Obamacare’s taxes will raise $771 billion in new government revenue from 2013 to 2022. The taxes have been phased in since the law’s passage, with a few still waiting to start.

Unrealistic Savings

Another major source of funding for Obamacare’s new entitlement spending comes from Medicare. Obamacare reduces Medicare reimbursements by an estimated $716 billion from 2013 to 2022, and that money is counted by the CBO as an offset for some of the law’s new spending.

DeMint: Republicans unwilling to defund ObamaCare ‘need to be replaced’

August 21, 2013 by Daniel

Jim DeMint on May 6, 2013.

Former Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) on Monday night urged voters to replace any Republican lawmaker unwilling to vote to defund ObamaCare during next month’s budget showdown.

DeMint, the president of the Heritage Foundation, dismissed fears that Republicans would be blamed for a government shutdown, as they were in the 1990s.

“The risk of that is so much less than the risk to our country if we implement ObamaCare, and so I’m not as interested in the political futures of folks who think they might lose a showdown with the president,” DeMint said at a town-hall meeting hosted by Heritage Action, the think tank’s political arm, in Fayetteville, Ark., the first stop on a nine-city tour.

DeMint said President Obama believes he has the upper hand in the coming fight.

Ted Cruz Heckled at Defund Obamacare Event

August 21, 2013 by Daniel

Sen. Ted Cruz Heckled at Anti Obamacare Town Hall Event in Dallas

Last night, Ted Cruz was heckled during his speech at a Defund Obamacare event that was organized by Heritage Action for America.

Before the men were drowned out with chants of “USA,” they started with their own chant of: “You have health care, so can we!”

Instead of ignoring them and brushing their comments off, he addressed them. Even agreeing with them, Cruz said “They should have health care, and Obamacare is causing more and more people struggling to climb the economic ladder to lose their health care.”

The truth is that more and more people are being forced to lose their current insurance, a promise Obama used to sell it to people. Each day that goes by, businesses slash hours of their employees so they don’t have to provide insurance benefits. The most recent to hit the list, UPS!

UPS is ending insurance coverage of 15,000 working spouses. Their reason? COST!

There are more than enough reasons to defund Obamacare. And thanks to the work of Jim Demint and Heritage Action, people are starting to pay more attention.
