“If the people lose control of the arteries of trade and the natural sources of mechanical power, the nationalization of all industry should soon be expected. Our forefathers were alert to resist all encroachments upon their rights. If we wish to maintain our rights, we can do no less.” – Calvin Coolidge

The GOP’s new ‘Pledge to America’

September 23, 2010 by Daniel

by Connie Hair

House GOP leaders are set to release their “Pledge to America” at an event in Virginia on Thursday, offering a bold set of proposals for a new governing agenda.

The document offers a pledge from Republicans on issues ranging from a GOP blueprint to reform congressional corruption to unleashing job creators by cutting taxes and reducing the debt burden on future generations by cutting government spending, according to a copy of the document obtained Wednesday by Human Events.

The pledge also commits House Republicans to a full repeal of Obamacare.

Through its “America Speaking Out” initiative, Republicans have been reaching out to the people and through that initiative they have assessed the issues addressed in their pledge as those the American people most want Congress to tackle.

The plan offers comprehensive detail on efforts to get government out of the way so private enterprise can do what they do best: create jobs.

The GOP plan to end the economic uncertainty and make America more competitive includes:

“The prosperity of commerce is now perceived and acknowledged by all enlightened statesmen to be the most useful as well as the most productive source of national wealth, and has accordingly become a primary object of their political cares.” – Alexander Hamilton

Deuteronomy 15:6-8 – For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee. If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need

Obama’s Disconnect

September 23, 2010 by Daniel

A big defining moment for any president and their administration is foreign policy. It can either make or break them. It’s impact is greater than many people give credit to. And, for the Obama administration it is proving to be a very difficult task to manage.

With the yet to be released book by Bob Woodward, Obama’s Wars, it is a telling picture as to the lack of direction, understanding and experience. Namely the quarrelling back and forth between members and even Obama, also show a lack of leadership within the administration.

The direction Obama displays for his foreign policy is shady to say least. It appears that every decision is made to foster his image. Many comments and statements point only to a ME mentality. Even when he has said that he would rather be a great one term president, saying that he wants to get out of Afghanistan quickly to so not to loose all the Democrats support say another thing.

If Obama was to really campaign his first term through, he would really focus on his foreign policy. Foreign policy impacts everything from the economy to national security. Our national security is impacted when we are deploying troops in excess of 100 other countries. It also impacts it in a way that opens the nation to other terrorist threats. Something that Obama has said we could absorb like we did with 9-11.

The arrogance in making a statement like that shows a total disconnect from reality. It is that very attack that has pushed us to the edge. The occupying of the Middle East region, in some opinions, is the very reason we were attacked. An attack that has put a heavy strain on the economy by trying to fund the war efforts. That isn’t to focus all of America’s economic woes on war funded efforts, but it certainly hasn’t helped.

Muslim Hate Crimes

September 22, 2010 by Daniel

by Ted Nugent

I don’t support burning the Koran anymore than I support someone holding a blow torch to a Michael Moore fraudumentary film. If you don’t want to read the Koran or watch Moore’s fraudumentaries, then don’t.

This beautiful thing we call the First Amendment is the essence of life. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion is something much of the Muslim world knows little about or respects, which is similar to their abject lack of basic understanding of tolerance, love and peace.

Facts are facts. Muslims in the Middle East have zero respect for other religions. In the Saudi Arabia city of Mecca, all other religions beside Islam are banned. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion are squelched and outlawed in the name of Islam. It appears many in the Muslim world are stuck in year 4.

The Battle for the Future

September 22, 2010 by Daniel

by John Stossel

For most of the life of America, and when it grew fastest, government spent just a few hundred dollars per person. Today, the federal government alone spends $10,000. Politicians talk about cuts, but the cuts rarely happen. The political class always needs more.

I see the pressure. All day, Congress listens to people who say they need and deserve help.

The cost of any one program per taxpayer is small, but the benefits are concentrated on well-organized interest groups. It’s tough for a weak politician to say no.

But maybe things are changing. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., believes that “more and more people in America are beginning to wake up to the fact that this thing is coming unglued.”

I asked Ryan why his colleagues say it’s OK to spend more. Are they just stupid? Don’t they care? Or are they pandering for votes?

Obama Challenges For Ideas

September 22, 2010 by Daniel

The time has come for Obama to get desperate. He was out giving a speech the other day and offered that those who don’t agree with him or his administration could take the time to share their ideas. If they were as good as everyone argued they were, he wanted to hear them.

So, what’s wrong with that? It shows that he is desperate for ideas. He has recognized that what he has to offer isn’t exactly working and he needs new ideas. This is all strategy by Obama and his minions.

What this comes to is positioning himself for another run in 2012. He sees that the tides of the ocean he spoke of are pulling away from him, and that his power in both the House and Senate will be diminished.

But, he is smart enough to see that people may become less involved and less in tune with his agenda as they see less Democrats in office. Taking the opportunity to then say that they had two years to try and change things and didn’t will be his mantra. It will be the platform that could get him re-elected.

This is why he is willing to lend an ear to those ideas that the people have. He is lost at sea and doesn’t have a compass to point the way. His position with this is exactly why those with ideas should be silent. Silence in this case would cause the Obama team to go nuts.

They want the peoples ideas so they can take the credit. At least then it will make stump speeches possible for his run in 2012.

7 Things The Establishment Gets Wrong About The Tea Party

September 21, 2010 by Daniel

by John Hawkins

You can barely look at a political website these days without reading a post about the Tea Party movement. Of course, we’ve heard plenty from liberals. “They’re fascist-racist KKK-Nazis!” The Rockefeller Republicans have tut-tutted their opinions from the cocktail circuit as well, “Egads! Some of these people look as if they shop at Wal-Mart!”

However, there are plenty of old school Republicans who don’t hate the Tea Party movement per se; they simply don’t understand it. So, let’s talk about some of the perceptions the establishment Republicans have about the Tea Party movement and why they’re mistaken.
