North Korea Nuclear Test Draws Reaction

February 12, 2013 by Daniel

North Korea has conducted a nuclear test which is drawing condemnation from their biggest ally China. Also among those against the test are Japan and the United States.

This is their third test in defiance of existing UN resolutions.

Fox News reports that they claim the test was its “first response” to perceived U.S. threats and warns it will continue with unspecified “second and third measures of greater intensity” if the United States maintains its hostility.

Reuters reports that Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said China was “strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed” to the test and urged North Korea to “stop any rhetoric or acts that could worsen situations and return to the right course of dialogue and consultation as soon as possible”.

The timing of this test comes as President Obama prepares to deliver his State of the Union on Tuesday night.
