Today, Proposition 8 was overturned by Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker in a landmark and controvercial decision. A decision that leaves out the voice of 7 million California voters. A decision made out of personal judgement instead of one based on law.
One arguement leaves people questioning his ruling as it appears to have been made based off of his own sexual orientation. An idea that has placed him in the spotlight before in other controversial rulings.
Another side questions why he, one person, has the ability to toss out 7 million votes that came out very strong in opposition to the legalization of gay marriage.
Some people on the other side, ask that religious view be taken into account. Stating that the Scriptures do not state that marriage is between man and women. However, the challenge is that they actually start at the beginning and study the true sanctity of life and how man was made and woman was made for man. In the very inception of life as we know it, man and woman must become one to create life. Man cannot produce children alone. Woman cannot as well. The true sanctity of life begins with the unity of man and woman.
Also, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints are again finding themselve back in the spotlight.
