KAK, first I would like to thank you for stopping by and commenting.

Second, I greatly agree with you about how Bush mismanaged Afghanistan. Trust me when I say this, I don't think going into Afghanistan was a wise thing to do. Unlike the administrations have done, and how you nailed it when you said that "no conquer has ever taken Afghanistan," people tend to forget that one of the best weapons in war is history. The problem with what Obama is doing, is that it is the same as what Bush did.

Third, I can see the point you are making with the Eisenhower quote. However, as much as money does tend to talk, lobby members are not the one's making the decisions, but rather they are trying to influence it their way. The elected officials are the ones who ultimately make the decisions.

A failing leader, not only fails himself, but also those who are following.

Yes you are right with your basic supposition of failure but dead wrong with your reasoning. Afhganistan is a failure under Bush for the reason that you give, minimalistic approach too troop levels. Do you remember the firing of General Shenseki for disagreeing on Bush and Rumsfelds ideas of troop levels? They blew it and our initial advantage was destroyed long ago. No conquer has ever taken Afghanistan.

You twist the words of President Eisenhower who prophetically was correct. He was in a position to know what he was talking about. Eisenhower was talking about the misplaced power in the unelected military industrial complex which is today corrupting our elected officials with lobbying money.

This country is bankrupt, when are the war mongers going to realize the Empire is in it's death throws?
